Mrs. Aljana Tepliakova

Director of Rawai Park School

Introduction

Mrs. Aljana Tepliakova from Moscow has been a resident in Phuket for the last seven years and, being a true woman of vision, determination, perseverance, and originality, she has been making waves with her various projects. A confirmed linguist, she has been speaking English since she was four years old and is a certified translator in Russian, English, and Arabic. As an only child, she studied piano, batik, singing, sewing, clothing design, modelling, and dancing. From childhood her mother, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Moscow State University, encouraged her to experience many things and be a well-rounded person, a fact that has shaped her to this day. She strongly feels education must develop well-rounded personalities and bring out the best in each child. Her father, also an academic with a degree in economics and philosophy and a Ph.D. in philosophy, worked in the Russian Ministry of International Affairs, made a name for himself as a leader in his field, establishing a university of international affairs in Russia. With a degree from Moscow State Linguistic University in the faculty of international affairs and socio-political sciences as a culture specialist, Aljana spent three years in Ph.D. studies devoted to international pedagogy and subsequently worked as academic director of an international school in Moscow. With seemingly infinite energy, she went on to launch several tri-lingual centers where children from 2 to 8 learn French and English as well as their native Russian. Here in Phuket she ran an international school in Phuket as principal and manager. Always looking for opportunities to find and implement the latest knowledge, practices, and ideas, she is an active participant and speaker in many international conferences. She is always trying. Six years ago, she founded Dreamax Camp Phuket, which has hosted children from Russia and local children of all nationalities for summer camps focusing on drama, music, English, and fun. Dreamax continues till today as a place for children to come from various countries around the world to learn English through drama, public speaking, and more, with professional theatrical and educational experts. From the success of Dreamax Camp, in cooperation with Phuket 9, the idea of setting up a small, quality school for international students was born and has now become a shining reality. Mrs. Tepliakova has worked tirelessly doing the job of many people to realize the dream of setting up this private school based on the Cambridge curriculum. She is hands-on in gathering students, finding teachers, choosing books and curriculum, and in every aspect of the creation of what we now have, a lovely facility nestled in the heart of Rawai Park with 12 classrooms to start with. Now, as the principal of the school, she has no doubt this project is going to succeed and just get steadily better. She is passionate about her job and about education. Her vision for the school is to broaden the boundaries of the world for the children and give them the opportunity to realize and follow their dreams and desires. While grades and academic achievement are important, the ultimate importance is placed on creating decent, happy, fulfilled, and well-balanced humans ready to face an ever-changing world.
